about

THIS IS A 7 SONG ALBUM

So, what is The Psykadelik Whirlpool? To be honest, I'm not quite sure. The idea has been in my mind literally for decades, without my coming to any kind of satisfactory conclusion... until I saw the image that makes up the album cover that my wife Alex has created. Despite its complexity, it is one single line, which means that if you trace 'round all of its twists, turns and curlicues, you'll end up—eventually—right back where you started.

The cover art image is based on a Fibonacci sequence, a set of mathematically related numbers that govern shapes and patterns in the natural world. Looking at it, you might "see" a sea-shell, or even a side-on section of a human brain. This is no accident, and harks back to the ideas of "sacred geometry" that were a part of Renaissance thinking.

So, the Psykadelik Whirlpool is consciousness, awareness, presence. If you are lucky enough, you can see it in the eyes of a new-born child... It is also the space in between sleep and waking, life and death. We follow all the twists and turns and end up right back where we started.

And if you think all of this is nonsense, that's fine. There's nothing quite so serious as really good nonsense.

There you go.
